Transcript – Season 1 Episode 1 – Introduction

Original release date:  October 1, 2019

Hi, I'm Darryll and I want to help you save energy and money like this tip...change your air filter on your heating and cooling system each month.  That helps your unit run more efficiently…

And I'm Ashley and I want to help you stay safe around electricity. Welcome to our new podcast...Power For Your Life. Dedicated to energy efficiency, electrical safety and the power of cooperative membership.  Darryll and I work for Associated Electric Cooperative.  Generating affordable, reliable electricity for cooperative members in the Midwest is what we're all about.

But it isn't just about electricity. Cooperatives help in our communities by supporting local schools, events and youth programs. We work side by side with our members to make decisions locally that best serve our area. You even get money back from your cooperative in capital credits when it's financially possible. Because everything a cooperative does is for its members.

So we've developed this podcast for you and every other member to gain power for your life. Power to control your energy use and save money. Power to learn about how to keep you and your family safe around electricity. Power of information about new technologies so you can be comfortable in making large financial decisions. Power to make decisions about who runs your cooperative. Each month we will explore these topics and more by speaking with local experts. We'll provide real life examples and tips you can use.

Our first podcast will focus on how to stay safe if you have a vehicle accident with the power line or come across someone who has. We'll also discuss what your kids or grand kids should do if this happens on the school bus.

Join us for the podcast to learn the power of your cooperative membership.

About Us

Even though your electric cooperative is locally owned and committed to your local community, we are part of something bigger too. We are a network of 51 distribution cooperatives in Missouri, southern Iowa and northeastern Oklahoma, serving 935,000 member homes, farms and businesses. We receive power generation through six regional Generation and Transmission (G&T) cooperatives and one collective G&T, Associated Electric Cooperative.
