  • About us

Locally owned, always

We were local before local was cool.

Whether you travel across the country or prefer to stay close to your hometown, one thing you may notice is the emphasis on “Buy Local” campaigns. This is based on one simple fact: It’s important to support businesses that support our community.

Your member-owned electric cooperative has known this since our inception. We were formed by people in this community to serve those who work, worship and live here too. We are an independent organization, governed and controlled by our members. And you, as our member, are part of this special group.

As a member of your electric cooperative, you receive local and personal service from employees at your co-op who live in your community too. And your cooperative is involved in your community in more ways than just providing jobs for those who live here. We support schools, youth programs and local events.

About Us

Even though your electric cooperative is locally owned and committed to your local community, we are part of something bigger too. We are a network of 51 distribution cooperatives in Missouri, southern Iowa and northeastern Oklahoma, serving 935,000 member homes, farms and businesses. We receive power generation through six regional Generation and Transmission (G&T) cooperatives and one collective G&T, Associated Electric Cooperative.
